Minimum Requirements for the Nursing Program are: 1.) Submit an Application before January 15th 2.) Have a minimum of the five REQUIRED prerequisites complete 3.) Have a C or better in all prerequisites; and 4) Have a minimum 2.75 GPA (cumulative and in the Nursing Program prerequisites). Qualified applicants are competitively reviewed primarily based on their prerequisite GPA and secondarily on overall GPA and number of prerequisites completed. Admission to the Nursing Program is limited and competitive.Students not selected for admission to nursing, can complete the B.S.in Health Sciences – General emphasis as shown for years 3 and 4 in this plan.

 

Pick 5 (in consultation with advisor ): AHLS 211, REHB 327, REHB 372, REHB 493, CHEM 230/231, COMD 220, NUTR 201, PHHE 295, PSYC 316, HSCI 217, HSCI 497, or other courses as approved by advisor.

Notes/Comments: This plan is an example of what a four year plan could look like for a typical student. Placement exam scores in math as well as the completion of coursework may change the plan. It should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor each semester to discuss course scheduling. All requirements are subject to change by NIU.
