This emphasis is designed for students intending to major in nursing to meet program **PRQs in the first two years. Course offerings may also prepare students for entry into many other health-related fields. Students should explore their academic and career goals regularly with their advisor and make course selections based upon those goals. Students not selected for admission to Nursing can complete the B.S. in Health Sciences – Applied emphasis as shown for years 3 and 4 in this plan. For more information about how to apply for the Nursing program visit: https://www.chhs.niu.edu/nursing/programs/bs/admissions.shtml
Notes/Comments: **A failed pre-requisite course or equivalent (D, F, or U) may not be repeated more than once to receive a passing grade of C or higher to be eligible for NIU’s Nursing program. If a student opts to repeat a course with a previous C at another institution, this is allowed and the highest grade will be used for GPA calculation.
This plan is an example of what a four year plan could look like for a typical student. Placement exam scores in math as well as the completion of coursework may change the plan. It should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor each semester to discuss course scheduling. All requirements are subject to change by NIU.
